I'm very impressed. But I have to say that I have never, ever, owned a blender in the past that not only crushes the ice but turns it into slush. I can't yet rate it's reliability since I just got it. Last night, I was able to make a drink that was so slushy, it had no grains of ice left. I just received this refurbished blender from amazon yesterday. I tried it out last night and loved it. Any blender I've owned in the past, even the top name brands, only crushed the ice to the point where there was still some pebble size pieces.
I'd say my average use was 1-2 times a week to make a smoothie. I bought this blender in 2007 and it lasted two years before it burned itself out and melted the black part that must have rotated the blade. I know the warranty on this was only for six months, so it exceeded that, but I've had less expensive blenders last just as long and perform just as well.
No problems with either one. I am not a frequent user, so keep that in mind. It works like it's brand new. I trust Kitchenaid, and also have one of their stand mixers. I was hesitant on buying something refurbished, as I make a practice not to. This, however, was a great buy. However, for a family of 2, it's been fine.
I had a gift certificate for $50 and after using that on this item and after tax and shipping I only paid $3 and change. I would recommend this to anyone. The body color isn't stainless steel. I was so excited to get this. But no biggie, it's put away when I'm done with it.
This item was perfect out of the box and I've never had any trouble with it. I'm not a big plastic fan in the kitchen. I was thrilled. It certainly doesn't take away from it's performance. I tend to think reconditioned items are great due to the fact that they are made to brand new again and you get a great deal on pricing.
I had been searching for just the right blender and one with a glass jar and not plastic. It looks more like a spray paint industrial look.
You do have to clean it thoroughly and put it together tightly. It has been great. I like the pulse option on the blender. I love this style blender. I love the color, I love Kitchenaid, and I love the clean lines and style. I thought it was broken, but my husband helped me put it back together and we're great again.
